Help Center
Everything you need to search courses, build a conflict-free schedule, and share it.
This page covers what ORESS can do today. Features still in progress are labelled Coming soon. If something looks inaccurate or you have a request, reach us through the Contact page.
Search & Filter
To find a course
- Pick your campus and semester from the dropdowns above the results, then click Apply Filter.
- Type any keyword in the search bar — a course code (
CSC 212), a title, or an instructor's name. - Narrow further with the expert symbols below.
Expert search syntax
Combine a keyword with # (days) and @ (start time) in one query:
| Type | Finds |
|---|---|
#MWF |
Courses meeting Monday / Wednesday / Friday (days are M, T, W, R, F) |
@8:00 |
Courses starting at 8:00 |
CSC 212 #MWF @8:00
|
CSC 212 sections on Mon/Wed/Fri starting at 8:00 |
Click the star on any result to save it to your favorites for quick access later.
Building Your Timetable
To add a course to your schedule
- Search for the course, then tick its checkbox — it appears on the grid instantly.
- If the new course overlaps one already on your grid, the add is blocked and both courses flash so you can see exactly where they collide.
- To remove a course, hover over it on the grid and click the ×, or untick its checkbox in the search or favorites list.
Good to know
- Keep several draft schedules per semester and switch between them with the tabs above the grid.
- Add Course in the toolbar creates a temporary custom course (your own days and times) when something isn't in the catalog yet — including no-schedule courses like senior projects. Temporary courses live only in your browser until you refresh.
- The clock button in the toolbar switches the grid between 12-hour and 24-hour time.
- The moon/sun button in the navigation bar switches between light and dark theme.
To share or export your schedule
- Download exports the grid as a PDF or PNG — ideal for printing.
- Share creates a private link for advisors and classmates; you can revoke it any time, and links expire automatically.
- You can also save an .ORS file as a backup of your schedule.
Favorites & Tools
Favorites
Star a course anywhere you see it and it lands in the Favorites tab — your shortlist while you experiment with drafts. Favorites sync to your account, so they follow you across devices.
GPA Calculator
Open it from the Credits button in the timetable toolbar to:
- See the total credits in your current draft.
- Enter an expected grade per course to estimate the term's GPA.
- Project your cumulative GPA — add your current GPA and completed credits on your profile page first for an accurate projection.
Course colors
Each course gets a color from your personal palette. Customize the ten palette slots on your profile page.
Known Issues
Course data freshness
The catalog re-syncs from NDU's system a few times a week during registration, so you might occasionally notice:
- Delays in course availability updates.
- Temporary discrepancies in room assignments.
- Seat counts lagging behind the SIS.
If a course looks wrong, refresh first. If it persists, tell us through the Contact page — and always confirm critical details against the official catalog.
Exports on small screens
PDF and PNG export look best from a desktop browser. On very small screens the exported grid can look cramped — export from a laptop if you need a clean copy to print.
